The new effort follows Hansard’s string of outstanding charting-performing studio albums. In 2012, he released his debut solo effort, Rhythm and Repose. Being the frontman of prominent rock band The Frames, Hansard was quick to gain traction but his brilliant songwriting prowess enabled him to immediately break into the mainstream charts in several countries. Rhythm and Repose became Hansard’s most successful entry into the U.S. chart.
The following year, Hansard secured his first Grammy nomination after writing the music and lyrics of the famed 2007 musical Once. The official soundtrack album later earned the Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album. Fast forward to three years later, Hansard earned his first Grammy nod for his solo work. His sophomore album, Dind’t He Ramble, earned a nomination for Best Folk Album. Over the next few years, Glen Hansard released several more highly acclaimed studio albums and composed notable theme songs for feature films.
