Norwegian synth-pop band A-ha was formed in Oslo in 1982 by Paul Waaktaar-Savoy (guitars), Magne Furuholmen (keyboards and guitars), and Morten Harket (vocals). Three years later, the group released its debut album, Hunting High and Low, which was a huge hit, peaking at number one in Norway, number 2 in the UK, and number 15 on the US Billboard 200. It went platinum in the US, earned them a Grammy Award nomination for Best Newcomer, and launched five singles: "Take On Me", "Love Is Reason", "The Sun Always Shines on T.V.", "Train of Thought" and "Hunting High and Low". After the release of the band’s fifth studio album – 1993’s Memorial Beach – they went on hiatus, returning in 2000 with the album Minor Earth Major Sky. In 2010, the band announced that it was splitting after nine albums together, but reunited in 2015 at the Rock in Rio Festival. Their performance has since been listed in the Guinness World Records book for having the biggest-paying rock concert attendance, drawing an audience of 198,000 at Maracanã Stadium. That year, they released their tenth and most recent studio album, Cast in Steel.
