“This record, to me, sounds a little more, for lack of a better word, popabilly or psychobilly. It has a little more edge to it. There’s definitely ways you can go with rockabilly music. You can have a more country approach, for instance. This one seems to be a little more intense,” Setzer shared in a recent interview.
Brian Setzer is often cited as one of today’s greatest guitarists, selling over 13 million chart-topping records worldwide with his signature riffs and rebellion. In 1999, he received an Orville H. Gibson Lifetime Achievement Award and has since been inducted into the Long Island Music and Rockabilly Halls of Fame. He first came into public consciousness as the frontman of Stray Cats, the pivotal rockabilly band of the early 80s, followed by the formation of the swing revival Brian Setzer Orchestra in the early 90s. His work with the latter produced GRAMMY Award-winning renditions of three classic hits: “Caravan,” “Sleep Walk,” and Louis Prima’s "Jump, Jive an' Wail" His solo discography, meanwhile, fetched widespread praise with debut albums The Knife Feels Like Justice and Live Nude Guitars and Top Independent albums 13 and Rockabilly Riot! All Original.
Supporting the show is musician Yates McKendree, the voice behind the Chicago-style blues album Buchanan Lane, which features hits “Out Crowd,” “Wise,” and “No Justice.” He also shares a GRAMMY Award for his work in Delbert McClinton’s Tall, Dark, & Handsome.
