Calum Scott, an English pop singer-songwriter, rose to the scene in 2015 after competing in Britain's Got Talent. His rendition of Robyn's "Dancing on My Own" became a global sensation, earning him Simon Cowell's Golden Buzzer. Placing sixth in the competition, he released his iconic version of the song and hit #2 on the UK Singles Chart, and became certified 3x Platinum by the RIAA. Since then, he continued to release songs that strike the heart, praised for his emotion and vocal delivery. His succeeding hit singles include "Where Are You Now" with Lost Frequencies, "You Are the Reason", "If You Ever Change Your Mind", "Lighthouse", and many more.
One of his newest singles is "Lighthouse", kicking of 2024 with a song about light amidst darkness, finding hope amidst trial. "Lighthouse is a story about light in the darkness, the hope on the horizon, even if it’s in the distance and almost out of view it reminds you of what’s important and what makes you feel safe," he said, as cited from RETROPOP.
With a new album coming right up, we're ready for new soundtracks of our lives led by Scott's emotive and distinct vocals. Recalling a time when he used to often compare himself with others in the industry, Scott shares he's moved past his dilemma with imposter syndrome. He found that his songs became part of the soundtrack of people's lives.
"I get messages from people saying, ‘Oh, we played this at my cousin’s funeral,’ or birthdays, or whatever it is. And I think that, to me, is cool," he told RETROPOP. "The fact that my music soundtracks people’s lives is very cool."
