Geordie Greep at The Wiltern

"The New Sound" may sound like the least creative name for an album. When you dive into the tracks, though, you get it! Trying to pin down Geordie Greep as a rock, pop, or whatever performer is just selling him short. He's been known to mix some jazz and some blues on the tracks with heavy guitar lines. That's evident in songs like "Holy, Holy," which is the most popular release from his latest album. Coming out to LA is a bit of a daring move for someone like Geordie Greep. Sure, he's built a name for himself as part of Black Midi, but it's not like they were the most popular band out there. Yet, he's generated quite a dedicated fan base in a short period of time. That's why he's got shows selling out!

Perhaps one of the reasons why he's been able to build this fan base is because he's got a mixture of different styles. He's able to mesh them without too much help from synthetic beats. This is not a knock on the massive crowd of artists that rely on autotune and electronic music beats. However, you have to admit that a lot of performers are taking this route. When you have someone with a more traditional approach, and who has something to say in his tracks, a lot of people are going to gravitate toward them. This is the phenomenon that we're seeing play out with Geordie Greep's first solo tour.

There's going to be a unique layout at the Wiltern Theater for this event. All of the seats in the lower sections of the venue are going to be removed to create a general admission area.
