Following March’s CD Wallet, Peter Sagar (otherwise known as Homeshake) has treated fans to his second album of 2024, Horsie. Written and recorded in his home studio based in Toronto, it explores how Peter Sagar feels about returning to live performance. Diving into his relationship to loneliness and anxiety, the album examines those themes in the context of touring. Homeshake’s stunning new record uses various textures which draw inspiration from artists like Four Tet and My Bloody Valentine, the rhythmic flows of D’Angelo and Sade, and sounds of ambient Americana found in the beautiful works of Ry Cooder.

Unavailable on streaming, the mixtape has become a cult favorite. Its sound was expanded and refined in his debut long play In The Shower, which was a sensual disc consisting of tracks about his heartthrob, Salina Ladha, and their cat’s tragically short life. Homeshake’s second record, Midnight Snack, saw a shift in compositional focus from guitar to synthesizer. On the lookout for new temperatures and tones, Peter Sagar switched out the more traditional rock instrumentation of his previous work for pads and drum machines. His next record Fresh Air leant into a more poppier sound, cultivating some of his most adored work. Peter Sagar approaches every mixtape with the same frame of mind, composing purely for the joy of the moment without even considering its commercial reception. So you can be rest assured that you won’t be the only one basking in the magic of Homeshake’s tunes!

His fourth LP, Helium, is his very first album which is fully recorded in a home studio setting. It was brought to life by Peter Sagar wanting to be released from his record contract, featuring his most optimistic sound yet. Shortly after it hit the airwaves, Peter Sagar fell into an extended depressive episode, which was the longest period of time he was ever away from writing and recording in his adult life. This experience sparked Under The Weather, the artist’s most introspective work to this point. This is a raw diaristic experience of isolation, depression and anxiety, which was soon further explored on CD Wallet: the childhood origins of his loneliness. Join Homesake as he takes you on a journey filled with evolution, reflection, self-criticism, and self-love. Book your tickets now to secure your spot!
