The Wiltern
After adding guitarist Peter DiStefano and bassist Martyn LeNoble, frontman Perry Farrell and drummer Stephen Perkins founded Porno for Pyros after the downfall of the critically acclaimed and commercially successful Jane's Addiction. After viewing a fireworks advertisement in a pornographic magazine, Farrell gave the group its moniker. Through song lyrics, the name has also been linked to the LA riots, which took place in the hometown of the band at the time Porno for Pyros was formed. Porno for Pyros set out on a national tour in favor of the up-and-coming group before releasing their debut album of the same name. The hype around the band's debut album by the time it was released in 1993 quickly propelled the disc to the third spot on the Billboard top 200.
The second song from the album, "Pets," had a lot of playing on MTV. Porno for Pyros continued their busy touring schedule after the album's release, making appearances at Woodstock '94 and on HBO's The Larry Sanders Show. Porno for Pyros live shows significantly incorporated props, extras, and special effects (including pyrotechnics), in contrast to the comparatively straightforward rock acts that were the hallmark of live Jane's Addiction.
Pornos For Pyros reunited in May 2022 on stage for their first time in years at Welcome To Rockville Festival, replacing Jane’s Addiction after the band pulled out due to member Dave Navarro’s ongoing battle with COVID. Since then, the Jane’s offshoot have performed a headline set in Los Angeles, an intimate Lollapalooza after show, and a main stage set at the Farrell-founded festival.
Porno For Pyros will celebrate their 30th anniversary this fall by touring for the first time since 1998. The Horns, Thorns, EL Halos tour begins on October 8 and concludes on November 20. This highly-anticipated milestone tour brought joy to the band’s hardcore fans from the 90s.
This is everyone’s chance to catch the 90s rock band live once again! Purchase your tickets today by clicking ‘get tickets.’ Be quick before the tour sells out! See you at the show.
