“I have no regrets, and it’s a beautiful time in my life that I’m proud of,” he tells NYLON about his breakup with Emma Chamberlain as inspiration for the album. “I honestly never thought I would be in a relationship for three and a half years, and the fact that I was and that it was beautiful pretty much the entire time — I’m just very thankful.”
Beyond love and loss, the album also shares Role Model’s “breakup” with LA, feeling homesickness for his hometown and the East Coast. After a couple of tiring days in LA, “where I was just like, ‘What am I doing with my life?’ I miss my friends. I miss normal conversations,” he said.
