Twin Tribes at The Wiltern

The Wiltern is uber excited to welcome Twin Tribes and their supporting acts to the venue for a one night show on Sunday June 22nd - a part of their Darker Skies Tour taking over venus across America - with 25 shows expected and different acts all along the way, this show will be one for the books. Twin Tribes is the dark wave group from south Texas who incorporates their Mexican roots into their gritty and synthed-out music, which makes for an eclectic blend of nostalgia and new-wave all in a 3 minute song. 

They met in Brownsville when they were young and began making music with each other, and cite bands like The Cure and Soda Stereo as inspirations to their style. Alternative Press Magazine describes their style as reminiscent of 80s darkwave and atmospheric, and The Tucson Sentinel describes their music as broodingly melodic, and undeniably underworld and underground - for now, at least. In an interview with the Tucson, the boys said

““It’s a dream, living your life doing something that you are absolutely passionate about. Being able to express yourself as an artist, while also being able to pay the bills. It’s a beautiful feeling.”

The group has released four albums so far, their latest being 2024s Pendulum, which was met with positive reviews across the scene, and sold out tour dates last year and a guarantee to run it back this year.

Accompanying the group on this tour for some select dates is TRAITRS, Forever Grey, Soft Vein, and Los Goths Co DJs.

TRAITRS

TRAITRS is a dark electronica group from Toronto whose guitar punk aesthetic has been tearing up the scene for the past decade. With song names like Thin Flesh and Youth Cults, you’d think the duo's music would be more satanic and heavy - but most of their melodies and lyrics feel freeing and uplifting. These boys have been working hard to perfect their sound and woo audiences across North America - and with their February release of two songs from the new material they’ve been working on, we expect their performance to hype the crowd up and have us floating into a liminal space. 

Forever Grey

Forever Grey is a cold wave band based in Los Angeles who has been releasing music since 2015. When they take the mic, you instantly turn your head. Both members of the band sing with booming and airy vocals, and create riffs and melodies that feel dreamy with a hint of danceable despondency.

Soft Vein

Soft Vein has little but their music available online for public consumption - which makes them all the more mysterious and edgy to any gothwave enthusiast that finds them. Their latest release Through Blinds is a mix of lo-fi punk tunes with poignant lyrics and harmonies. They are students of the synth, and it’ll be interesting to see what they bring to the mix when paired with Forever Grey and TRAITRS as opening acts. Though they are very aligned with everyone on this bill, and are sure to bring the energy we need to start off the night. 

Los Goths Co DJ Collective 

Los Goths are a Los Angeles based DJ collective that brings cumbia, disco, and goth together under one roof - and in one DJ set at that. The collective throws massive parties for Latinos and Dark Wave Disciples across the city - and they’ll be starting off the night at The WIltern on the 22nd of June, so you know this show is going to be the party of a lifetime. 

Wow - what an absolutely massive line up. We aren’t even sure if anyone in the venue will be able to stand after this night of dancing and darkness.
