Andriy Mykhailovych Danylko, popularly known as Verka Serduchka, is a Ukrainian comedian, actor, and singer. Known for his eccentric and playful performances, Verka rose to international stardom after winning the Eurovision contest in 2007, representing his home country. This fame was a far cry from how he started in his hometown in Poltava, Ukraine, as a participant in a comedy contest. He quickly gained popularity in Ukraine and was given the distinction of an "Honored Artist of Ukraine" in 2003 due to the success of his "I am a Revolution" tour.
In 2005, Verka released the "Ha-Ra-Sho" album, which sold over a million copies in Russia and was named album of the year in Ukraine. In 2020, the BBC suspense series "Killing Eve" used "Dancing Lasha Tumbai," which had won Eurovision in 2011, as one of its soundtracks. By 2015, Danylko had appeared in the New York City production of the popular action comedy Spy, appearing and featuring as the character of Verka Serduchka. In addition to Verka, Danylko uses additional personas in his performances, including a police officer, a soldier, and a female ballet dancer.
